Trickster The Musical Coming To Gloucester
Thursday January 14, 2010
Gloucester Crime and Reduction Partnership are bringing a popular musical theatre production to Gloucester to perform, for one day only, their play that warns the audience about conmen and bogus callers.
There will be two performances on Monday March 1 at the home of some of Gloucester’s finest drama, Kingsholm Rugby Club.
The brilliant Solomon touring theatre company have been booked to perform their highly acclaimed musical "Trickster."
Based on a true story the production, designed for older people, follows the story of George, once a proud soldier, as he battles against conmen and beats the bogus callers.
The show contains original songs for the audience to sing-along to as George goes on to show the conmen what he is made of in this fun and lively performance.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Atkinson, from the Forest and Gloucester policing division, said: "We are keen to inform our older residents of all the crime prevention, home security and safety measures that are available.
"This event is an excellent way of passing the message to our older residents not to open the door to unexpected visitors or allow them into their homes and not to keep large quantities of cash in their home, whilst still having an enjoyable time at a relaxed and friendly event."
Councillor Andrew Gravells, cabinet member for community safety at Gloucester City Council, said: "Distraction burglary is a mean and nasty crime and we will endeavour to work in partnership to help our older residents prevent bogus callers getting entry into their homes.
"I hope that many residents will take advantage of this free, fun event that could have a lasting impact on their safety."
Andy Saunders wrote the script and lyrics for the show which is performed by three professional actors. The event has been organised by the Gloucester Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and Age Concern Gloucestershire who will have representatives at the event to offer advice and answer questions.
"Trickster" has already been cheerfully received in many cities across the UK so do not miss this chance to see it in Gloucester.
Trickster will be performed at 10.30am and 2.30pm at Gloucester Rugby Club, Kingsholm Stadium, Kingsholm Road, Gloucester, GL1 3AX.
Parking is available at the rugby club and a limited amount of transport can be arranged if necessary. Sandwiches will be provided after the morning performance and a cream tea after the afternoon one.
The event is entirely free of charge but entry will be by ticket only. Tickets are available from Pat Dabbs by telephoning 01452 396984 or by email to Pat.Dabbs@gloucester.gov.uk . Tickets are limited and early booking is recommended.
