CRIME PREVENTION BOOKLET DELIVERED TO EVERY HOME IN GLOUCESTER
October 6 2006
Residents in Gloucester are to get a helping hand in how to keep themselves
and their property safe, thanks to a new booklet.
The Community Safety Booklet, produced by the Gloucester Crime and
Disorder Reduction Partnership, has just rolled off the presses and
is now being posted through every letterbox in the city.
The booklet is a one-stop-shop for all the advice and safety measures
needed to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
Information and advice contained inside ranges from issues such as
anti-social behaviour and bogus callers to the role of City Rangers
and how to get a home fire risk assessment.
Dedicated sections also contain the latest information on home security,
personal safety and vehicle crime as well as wider issues such as domestic
violence.
“The booklet has been produced to provide easy to use, relevant
information in the hope people will think about their safety and work
with us to make life as difficult as possible for criminals,”
said Pc Kevin Ireland, Crime Reduction Officer for the Forest and Gloucester
division.
“We hope the simple tips will show people how easy it is to improve
their security and prevent themselves from becoming a victim of crime.
“Becoming the victim of a bogus caller or having your handbag
snatched is obviously very distressing at the time, but the after effects
of crime can last a long time.
“The chances of you becoming a victim are already low, but we
want to make them even lower.”
The colour coded sections allow people to get all the information they
need quickly, and a range of partner agencies and important support
organisations are featured to show people where they can get further
advice from should they want it.
“We hope the booklet will show people how they can make a difference
in the fight against crime, and help make Gloucester a safer place to
live, work and visit,” added Pc Ireland.
