STRATEGY FOR DEALING WITH CRIME
15th June 2005
New approaches for dealing with crime and the fear of crime in Gloucester are to be announced at the end of this week.
The Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership will be launching its new strategy for the next three years at an event on Friday.
The partnership is represented by Gloucestershire County Council, Gloucester City Council, the Police, Fire Authority and the Primary Care Trust.
Working together they have a legal requirement to consult with local people and to produce a plan for dealing with crime related issues in the city.
Derek Cross who chairs the partnership, commented: “ Crime is reducing in the city – but there is always room for improvement. We have set ourselves some challenging targets for the next three years and we will be looking for all residents of the city to assist us.
“Details of our strategy will be delivered to local homes during the summer and residents will be able to see what we have been doing over the past three years – and what we plan for the next three.”
The strategy will be launched by local MP, Parmjit Dhanda and Paul Rowlandson, Director of Crime, Drugs and Emergencies from the Home Office at a meeting of the Partnership at 12 noon on Friday in the Civic Suite, North Warehouse, The Docks.
